Jennifer Rutt

Afternoon Ti - oil on canvas

The Women Artists of Kauai warmly welcome our newest member, Jennifer Rutt!  She is mainly an oil painter, but has recently been experimenting with encaustics.

Her Artist's Statement:

Jennifer Rutt was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. She developed a love for art and was inspired by her grandmother, who was an amazing artist herself. Jennifer was drawn to Kauai for its rustic beauty, and decided to make it her home in 1995. Her fascination with nature ignited a spark in her creativity. Surrounded by vivid colors and natural wonders, she began to express herself through oil painting. Painting brings her joy and she hopes to share the same experience with those who make her artwork part of their home.

You can find her work on her website http://www.jenniferruttstudio.com or at her Etsy Gallery http://www.etsy.com/shop/JenniferRuttStudio

Welcome to our newest Woman Artist of Kauai, Kathleen Bryan!

Kathleen Bryan is a retired judicial officer and mediator who finds working with clay to be sensual, exhilarating, playful and maddening, all at the same time. At the present time she is doing decorative Raku and horsehair pottery, as well as functional pieces, many of which are formed from leaves on the island. She belongs to the Kaua’i Society of Artists, Woman Artists of Kaua’i and Hawaii Craftsmen.

Prior to retiring and moving to Kaua’i in 2012, she was a member of several art associations, including the Redlands Art Association, Vision Quest and the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs, showing regularly in those galleries. She has participated in many shows in Southern California and her pieces are in private collections all over the country. She is enjoying incorporating the beauty of Kaua’i in her newest work.

Carol Bevis

Untitled, Acrylic

Women Artists of Kauai proudly welcomes our new member, Carol Bevis!  Carol is an acrylics and mixed media artist on the north shore of Kauai.  Her mixed media pieces can incorporate found and recycled items including shells, beach glass, driftwood, old boards and frames.

Carol states, "My passions are exploring, expressing and creating, both the inner and outer worlds. When I am creating I am totally focussed and present with what is unfolding. Art is fun! A year and a half ago, I was walking past Wainiha and saw a "For Rent" sign next to Red Hot Mamas and thought, "I can come up with something for this." By the next day, the concept for 7 Artists Gallery congealed: a co-operative endeavor for emerging and under-represented artists on Kaua'i to empower and enable artists like me to focus on and live from our art. Currently, we are 11 women artists and the original vision continues."

Welcome aboard Carol!  For more of her work, please visit http://www.caroldianeart.com/
